About personalised caps and hats
A cap has room for one idea, so it is worth choosing carefully. These are six panels with a curved brim that holds its shape and an adjustable strap at the back, fitting roughly twenty-one to twenty-four inches. One size, and the mark goes on the front panel.
There are two fabrics. Structured cotton twill keeps its shape at the bottom of a bag. A performance mesh back puts twill at the front where the embroidery goes and mesh across the panels where nobody is looking, and the difference is obvious the first warm day.
Embroidery is the usual choice here. It is stitched instead of printed, so it does not fade, and the stitching does more for a name or a simple shape than ink would. A direct print is available where a design has photographic detail or more colors than thread can carry sensibly. The print area on a cap is small by design, so what works is usually a mark and not a picture.
