We are not taking payment yet

SyrotaPrint takes orders. It does not take money. The checkout asks for an email address and somewhere to deliver to, and no card at all. There is no card field on the page, so there is no card number to send us and none reaches our servers.

What you place is a pre-order: a record that you want the thing, at the price shown, delivered to that address. If and when we can make and ship it, we will write to you at the address you left and arrange payment then. You are not charged now, you are not charged automatically later, and nothing is due unless you agree to it at that point.

What we keep

Your email address, your delivery and billing addresses, and what you ordered. That is what a pre-order is made of and it is all we hold.

There is no card to keep. If the shop is ever switched to ask for one, that card checkout is simulated too. The details are validated for shape, a fake authorisation is invented, no bank is contacted and your card is not charged. In that state we would keep the brand, the last four digits and the expiry, which is what a receipt needs.

• No full card number is ever asked for, stored, logged or sent anywhere.
• No security code is ever asked for.
• On the simulated card checkout, both are read from the form and discarded.
• Every order is stamped as taken without a real processor, so that if one is ever connected, the orders from before it stay obviously distinguishable from the ones after.

Why a checkout that does not charge

Because the shape of an offer cannot be judged from a mock-up. Going through a real cart and a real checkout tells us whether the sizes, the options and the prices make sense to somebody who is not us. Charging for a figurine we cannot yet reliably make would be the part that was dishonest, so that is the part we left out.

Asking for a card we had no intention of charging would have been the same dishonesty wearing a better suit, which is why the checkout stopped asking for one.
