About custom coffee bags
These are white matte bags with a one-way valve in the seam, filled with coffee roasted for us and packed after you order. Twelve ounces is a fortnight for one person; a kilogram is the one to buy if a household drinks it; five pounds is an office, a wedding favour run or somebody who has decided to stop running out.
Four blends. House is the everyday one and takes milk without disappearing. The Ethiopia single-origin is the bright one, floral and tea-like, and is wasted on a commuter mug. The dark espresso roast is built for pressure and comes through a flat white intact. The Colombian decaf is washed rather than solvent-treated, which is why it still tastes of coffee.
The label is where the work is. A wizard asks for a name, a photo, one of six designs and a blend, and composes them onto the bag; if none of the six suits, it can draw the whole thing instead. Every design is built to sit clear of its own edges, so what arrives reads as a printed bag rather than a sticker on one.
