Sizes, and how to keep a print looking new

Garments

Measurements are the chest of the garment, not the wearer. They run true to size and are cut straight through the body. If you are between two sizes and want room, take the larger one.

Everything here is made when it is ordered, with your image on it, so a garment cannot be exchanged for a different size once it has been made. That is the single most useful thing on this page, and it is why the measurements are here rather than only on the product.

• S: Chest 34 to 36 inches.
• M: Chest 38 to 40 inches.
• L: Chest 42 to 44 inches.
• XL: Chest 46 to 48 inches.
• XXL: Chest 50 to 52 inches. Cut a little longer in the body.

Everything else

• Mugs: eleven ounces is the ordinary mug and holds a large coffee, fifteen is noticeably bigger in the hand and holds a pot's worth.
• Tote bags: the standard is fifteen by sixteen inches, and the large is eighteen by twenty with a gusset and a flat base.
• Caps: one size, with an adjustable strap fitting twenty-one to twenty-four inches.
• Aprons: one size, with a tie long enough to go round twice.
• Baby and kids: newborn to six years.

Washing a printed garment

Inside out, at thirty degrees, and out of the tumble dryer. A direct print sits in the fabric, so it fades with the garment as it wears instead of lifting off it, and the dryer is what ages both fastest.

Embroidery is stitched and does not fade at all. It can catch, so inside out matters more for a stitched garment than for a printed one.

Mugs, bags and aprons

• Glazed ceramic is dishwasher and microwave safe. The print is fired into the glaze, which is the difference between a mug that lasts and one that peels after a fortnight.
• Enamel is not for the microwave. It will chip eventually, and it will look better for it.
• Cotton canvas washes cold and should be dried flat.
• Waxed canvas wants a wipe. A wash takes the wax out and the water resistance with it, and it does not come back.

Chocolate

Somewhere cool and dry, out of the sun, and it will be at its best for months. It is solid all the way through, so there is nothing inside it with a shorter life than the chocolate itself.
